Research

The European Solidarity Centre is also a research institution operating through our Research and Collection Department. Our ambition is to hold lectures and meetings, and conduct research addressing the most pressing challenges that societies face today. The projects we undertake explore themes including the development of democratic culture, the shaping of European identity, social justice, new social movements, and interpretations of recent Central and Eastern European history. The outcomes of our research are summarised in books that we publish on sociology, philosophy, political science and history, as well as in reports and research periodicals (Freedom and Solidarity) and popular science journals (New Eastern Europe). We hope that our work contributes to shaping sociological imagination and finding solutions for a changing world.
