The Ambassador of New Europe is a competition for publishers and authors. The judging panel looks for books that boldly and uncompromisingly challenge the existing stereotypes and clichés surrounding Europe and its people, and explore what Europe is today.

For centuries, European history has been written through the lens of wars, conquests and changing borders, yet a common European identity has come to exist. What is it about today? What is it based on? What strengthens it and what causes it to falter when confronted with the rest of the world? Is it in crisis or flourishing?

All these questions are reflected in literature, which serves as a tool for naming, describing, interpreting or verifying both European history and its present day, along with everything related to them. Literature is key to better knowing and understanding the unique cultural code that defines Europe’s identity.

Multiple literary forms—literary journalism, essay, biography, interview, memoir, novel, comic book, short story collection and poetry volume—allow these topics to be presented in a variety of ways and are all considered for the competition. The submitted books may belong to historical, political science, sociological or philosophical genres.
