The European Solidarity Centre’s Archive has been operating since 2008. We collect, catalogue and make accessible materials documenting social resistance to the communist regime between 1970 and 1989. This includes records on the history of the Solidarity movement and the anti-communist democratic opposition both in Poland and elsewhere.
The ECS Collection includes periodicals, ephemeral prints, photographs, art (paintings, graphics, drawings and posters from 1970–1989), independent stamps and postmarks, trade union and personal archival materials donated by individuals, all related to opposition activities, the functioning of the communist Polish state and everyday life in Poland under communism. Non-digitised items are available at the ECS Archive Reading Room for researchers, journalists and history enthusiasts. We offer custom-curated sets for book publications and exhibitions, compiled on a case-by-case basis.
