Czy digitalizacja i cyfryzacja rzeczywiście przekształciły muzea w instytucje na miarę wyzwań naszego stulecia?
Technologie są dziś powszechnie uznawane jako narzędzie demokratyzacji, które gwarantuje i poszerza dostęp do kultury i dziedzictwa. Za ich pomocą muzea angażują młodsze, zorientowane cyfrowo pokolenia, realizują misję edukacyjną, obejmują nowe, ważne dla społeczności obszary dziedzictwa. Technologie to też wyzwania. Przenosząc przestrzeń muzealną do Internetu, zacierając granicę między interakcją a edukacją czy przyczyniając się do rozwoju przemysłów kulturowych technologie cyfrowe mogą nawet zmienić istotę i misję muzeum. Nad znaczeniem zwrotu cyfrowego we współczesnych muzeach debatować będą specjaliści i praktycy z Polski, Niemiec, Holandii i Kanady. Wśród poruszanych tematów znajdą się m.in. zagadnienia związane z restytucją i dekolonizacją, migracjami, zrównoważonym rozwojem, muzeum narracyjnym, miejscami pamięci. Eksperci spotkają się w bibliotece ECS. Zapraszamy do śledzenia wydarzenia online.

This international conference will consider the digital turn in the museum institution as an important derivative of wider societal and cultural changes. The vivid worldwide discussion around museums and digitization centred on how to keep at pace with rapid change of technological innovation, is not accompanied by reflection on the dangers and challenges brought by the digital turn. By producing digital heritage, expanding the museum space to the Internet, integrating users with the museum public, melting interaction with education, transforming museums into industries – the application of technology can arguably alter and distort the nature and the mission of the museum institution. Not taking the new technological means and tools as granted, this conference will ask whether their application has truly transformed museums to fit our century and transformed them into community-based, open and democratic institutions, which address contemporary conflicts and challenges.
The conference is financed by the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport in the framework of the JPICH Digital Heritage – support for research on cultural heritage under the EU Joint Programming Initiative on Cultural Heritage (JPICH)
